Believer to Non-Believer Non-Believer to Believer
  1. OliviaMoon: I was also born into a Christian home. I wouldn’t have called myself a ‘Christian’ any more by the time I was in my late teens, but I still held on to ‘god’ belief and I explored other ‘paths’ reading about Buddhism, Hinduism, Paganism/Wicca. I came to Pal Talk about three and a half years ago and was quickly convinced in the debate rooms that the god concept was just nonsense. My beliefs also changed from viewing ‘religion’ as harmless to viewing it as a great harm to society.
  2. KasparHauser4: Great stuff! Actually I have learned a lot about religion since I have been in the room. I better understand the world around me now.
  3. Lucent en Tenebris: I abandoned religion quite some time ago. What this room has done is confirm my decision to walk away. For a conversation with intelligent people, this is the place to be.
  4. TigerCatBrandon: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Raised in the Church of Christ, I was subject to continual brainwashing and social pressure that reacted in my belief system as a child. When I came of age and decided to think for myself, I needed a powerful opposite force to pull me back from the indoctrination I received as a child. Believers vs. Non Believers on Paltalk provides me with the camaraderie, support, and inspiration of like-minded people including Bellazaar_1, DeltaV, OliviaMoon, HairyH, Eagle_Rock, Lucent en Tenebris, Essence Essential, SmartAssHeathen, GodlessGirl1, Daz231, and Tomed provides me with referrals to a wealth of resources to help me become an educated Atheist including Mr. Deity on YouTube, http://www.ex-christian.net and http://www.escapetoreality.org with testimonials like this, the venerable works of Mark Twain, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and Lawrence Krauss, and a supportive platform in which to learn to debate with Christian, Muslim, and other apologists and teach other Atheists, Agnostics, and the undecided. Believers vs. Non Believers plays a crucial role in my de-conversion by being my Anti-Church.
  5. Eagle_Rock: I was agnostic too, wondering if there truly is a god and theists seem to have no explanation for anything. Since coming to this room, I am now a true atheist. Atheists give good answers as to how they come to that conclusion, and theist give me no answers. I feel great with who and what I am, and will remain an atheist.
  6. Smartassheathen: I was completely agnostic before this room. Now I am agnostic atheist. I do not believe gods exist, but I don’t KNOW that gods don’t exist. Matt Slick galvanized me in to evaluating what I believe.
  7. Ignostic One: I was born into Christianity, but by the time I started coming of age I was already moving in other directions. Theistic religion (reinforced through repetition) never solidified in my mind. I evolved cognitively from christian to a deist, then I switched between varying ideas/degrees of atheism. Finally, I realized that I don’t actually know anything at all about this god-thing, and the rationalization that I can’t believe or disbelieve in incoherent blather. I’m going to remain Ignostic until someone can show me directly how I can know anything about the god-thing.
