  1. I am a Christian but I don’t hate Catholics and I see Muslims as my neighbors growing up; I was an Atheist but I am not a young earth creationist — the YECs you see a sect which is the large sector of them. I will say God used Evolution for the world to take place as it’s 4.54 billion years old so there is no way humans and dinosaurs had co-existed. I told Wheaton College to fuck themselves — you hear the Christians who say “I will pray for you” I am going “Why just you tell me to fuck off.” The ones who are Christian but don’t use Christianese. I minored in Philosophy and majored in journalism.

  2. As usual, Christopher Hitchens is exactly wrong.

Look around and notice that most atheists are former Christians.

    Why?

    • DeltaV says:

If children were not so systematically indoctrinated, there wouldn’t be so many “former christians”.

      • Delta,

Protestant Christianity is built on logical fallacies.

That being the case, any Protestant who subjects his religion to the scrutiny of reason cannot stay Protestant for long.

Unfortunately, Protestants are taught to hate Catholicism before they are taught to love God, so that pretty much closes off any other avenue that is open to them.

And Catholic religious education is geared toward children so by the time the child graduates high school they are usually gone since the adult world requires much stronger religious mojo.

    • Duck Head says:

      “…most atheists are former Christians.”

How does that support your claim that CH is wrong about this? It’s a non-sequitur.

    • Brent says:

“Look around and notice that most atheists are former Christians.”

That doesn’t preclude his statement being accurate. Since Christianity, the world’s largest religion, has nearly twice the number of adherents as the world’s 2nd largest religion, Islam, it seems logical to conclude that they’d also comprise the largest subset of atheists.
